Address: Stacijas iela 6, Auce

Auce Municipality participated in the implementation of the project “Remembering Lāčplēsis”, which aimed at identifying the national heroes and sites in Latvia where they fought for our independence and freedom of each and every citizen. Consequently, their names were engraved in a commemorative stele. The Lāčplēsis Military Order, which is the first and highest Latvian military award, was awarded to 10 locals who were born, buried or, at some point in their lives, had lived in the former territory of Auce Municipality. This stele is considered a national identity symbol. Moreover, on the Lāčplēsis Day, it brings together the local residents who light candles thus commemorating soldiers who died during Latvia’s freedom battles.
